Transparency on Sustainability

Explanation of our environmental and sustainability claims

(Transparency obligation under EU law)

At Hupkes Wijma, we place great value on transparency regarding the origin and processing of our timber.

When terms such as "sustainable", "responsible" or "eco-friendly" are used on our website in connection with our products (such as bridges, lock gates, access galleries, balconies, and hardwood species), they refer to the following verifiable standards and criteria:

  • Certified origin: Our timber flows and supply chains are subject to strict controls. A large proportion of our timber is demonstrably sourced through certified systems such as FSC® and PEFC (our certificate numbers can be found here).
  • Legal standards: All imports – particularly tropical hardwoods (such as Azobé, Bilinga, Greenheart, etc.) – fully comply with the regulations of the EU Timber Regulation (EUTR) and applicable European due diligence requirements regarding the legality of timber harvesting.
  • Longevity & circular economy: Our ecological relief is based in particular on the extremely long lifespan of our structures as well as our business activities in the field of timber recycling (reuse of reclaimed hardwood), which conserves natural resources.

If you have any questions regarding the specific proofs of origin or certificates for individual projects, please feel free to contact us.
